As a family we love to explore our area and the rich history it contains. This was a first for us this time though, going to a sacred Aboriginal site. We have been to so many places that still have traces of the goldrush, but this gully has been untouched by any European settlements. There is a true sense of magic here and the most breathtaking scenery, with moss covered bolders, caves, flowing stream, ferns and open spaces.

The rock art at this site is documented to be around 3500 years old. There has been so much controversy surrounding this site and preserving what remains. For us it has led to research about the area and culture of the local tribes, to give us an understanding and respect for the importance of this sacred site. We have all loved learning new facts and have a whole new appreciation of the beauty of our Alpine Region.

It's an amazing experience to share this with our kids, knowing that through us they get to pass this knowledge down to their kids one day. These experiences we share as a family, exploring the rich culture and history here is something money can't buy, it's creating memories and a true connection to their surroundings and with each other. For some information about this site here is a link, just click on the picture below and it will take you there......
